Dave Witt - Teaching Pastor
Dave grew up locally in Auburn attending area schools and enjoying all the outdoor activities the Sierra Foothills have to offer. The Lord in His grace saw fit to save him from his sins in his early teens and he has been a part of Foothill Christian Fellowship from its inception. After completing his undergraduate work at Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Dave entered into education, teaching for twelve years at various grade levels K-12. He also enjoyed coaching basketball at Colfax High School for much of that time. In 1992-94 the Lord provided an opportunity to study at the Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, CA, and upon his return to the Auburn area he began to serve as a pastor at FCF. In 2000 Dave stepped away from his teaching position at Colfax High to serve full-time in pastoral ministry at Foothill. Dave met and married his wife, Susie, right out of college in 1988 and they have two children, Justin (married to Shaina) and Hannah (married to Ethan). In his spare time he enjoys working with his hands and being in the outdoors fly-fishing, backpacking, and motorcycle riding.
Charles Brown - Pastor of Student Ministries
Charles was born and raised in the Texas panhandle where he occasionally attended church and early on in life developed an interest in music and became involved in the Christian music scene. After graduating high school, he attended South Plains College where he studied fine arts music. While continuing to tour with the band he had been involved in since middle school, he became disillusioned with the Christian music scene he was involved in, as well as Christianity in general, believing it to be an empty religion full of hypocrites. It was during this time that he met Rachel, whom he married in June of 2008. After moving to Colorado, Charles began working for a Christian non-profit. While working there, God in His sovereignty, placed him under a supervisor who knew and loved the Lord and his word. Charles was challenged to read through the entire Bible and to begin listening to expository preaching. While doing this, he came across a sermon entitled “The Shocking Youth Message” by Paul Washer. It was through this message that the Lord convicted Charles of sin and granted true repentance and faith in 2010. Soon after Charles and Rachel became members of a local church and came under the shepherding of their elders, who discipled them as they grew in the understanding of the Scriptures and Christian living. It was during this time that the pastors of the church recognized the gift of evangelism and teaching in Charles and recommended him for Seminary. From 2015-2019 Charles attended The Master’s Seminary in Sun Valley, California. Shortly after graduating, the Lord placed Charles at Foothills Christian Fellowship, where he serves as the Pastor for Student Ministries. Charles and Rachel have 5 children: Saylor, Abel, Whitfield, Gladys, and Iva Ruby.
Jeff Campbell - Pastor
Jeff was raised in a Christian home by godly parents and was redeemed at a young age. He has spent most of his life in Northern California. He and his wife Carolyn have been married for 36 years and have ten children and eight grandchildren. Jeff and his family came to Foothill in 1998. A fire investigator by vocation, he is the newest addition to the pastoral staff. He teaches one of the adult Sunday school classes.
Jim Esway - Pastor
Jim grew up in the Bay Area where he met the love of his life, Kathy of 36 years after graduating from San Jose State with a degree in Business and a minor in Ceramics. Jim and Kathy have 5 children and three grandchildren which they adore. Jim and Kathy joined FCF in 1990 and have enjoyed serving the body of Christ in whatever capacity the Lord has seen fit to use them. Jim has been actively involved in youth ministry, discipleship, men's ministries, and GriefShare. Jim serves as Chairman of the Elder board and currently owns and operates a commercial and residential real estate company in Roseville. When Jim is not working in some capacity, he enjoys time on the potters wheel or time on the golf course. His passion is the Word of God, being involved with people, and serving the Lord with all of his life. He loves shepherding people and challenging others to grow in the knowledge of Christ & serving the Lord.
Brian Wippermann - Pastor
Brian grew up as a military “brat” (USAF) and went through medical school largely on a Navy scholarship, so until leaving active duty and moving here in 2001 he never had the same address longer than three years. Though the family had attended church Brian does not recall ever hearing the Gospel until age 13, when he was called out and made an adopted child of God by the Holy Spirit’s regenerating work. Through a campus ministry during college, Brian’s faith and walk began to be grounded in the Scriptures. God brought Brian and Laura together during medical school, and they were married in 1988. God has blessed them with six children, and one son-in-law so far. Brian is retired from the Naval Reserves and is an Emergency Physician in Roseville and Sacramento. He has led our Awana (now Adventure Club) Bible club ministry since 2009 and tried to serve “where most needed” at FCF since he and Laura joined in 2001. The Lord has used ministries, people, and FCF these last 19 years to make clear that the Bible teaches the overwhelming beauty and comfort of God’s absolute sovereignty in all things.
